\u201cThree Passions for our Tortured Planet\u201d<\/h1>\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

\u00a0Prize of \u20ac 2000 (two thousand euros) to be assigned to
the best pianists of the \"Piano Artist\"<\/strong> Category, interpreting the composition of Brian Field, selected by the\u00a0Jury of Wpta Spain IPC.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each artist who participates in the competition and who records the
Composition, will allow for their biography, headshot and recording of their
performance of the Composition to also be listed on the website
\u00a0www.passionsforourtorturedplanet.org<\/a> and in social media promoting the<\/p>\n

same, regardless of their placement in the competition.<\/p>\n

Inclusion on the\u00a0project website will be at Brian Field\u2019s sole discretion.<\/p>\n

Brief note on work<\/h3>\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

With the increasing buildup of greenhouse gases across\u00a0the planet, we are threatened with a climate crisis whose long -\u00a0term impact is greater than world wars,\u00a0political unrest or the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

To bring further awareness to this danger that\u2014in the end\u2014will impact all citizens of this earth, I have composed<\/p>\n

\u201cThree Passions for our Tortured Planet\u201d for solo piano which focuses on three areas of climate change.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The first movement (\u201c...fire...\u201d)<\/strong> is a reflection on the forest fi res raging across California and the American West on a<\/p>\n

re-curring, and increasingly alarming basis. \u00a0The work starts with a \u201cspark,\u201d that fl ickers and quickly spreads, growing more\u00a0complicated.\u00a0The fire begins to rage loudly, and across register, building to a climax which eventually becomes more<\/p>\n

controlled, as it burns itself out and dies.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second movement (\u201c...glaciers...\u201d)<\/strong> is a distant, stately movement that depicts the enormous ices on earth\u2019s poles.
These slow, ponderous moments are sporadically interrupted by rapidly falling, thundering episodes, depicting the shear-
ing of the glacial ice with ever-warming temperatures.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Concluding the set is the third movement (\u201c...winds...\u201d)<\/strong>. This virtuosic fi nale begins with running winds that become
increasingly intense and hurricane\/typhoon-like in their destructiveness before dissipating into a barely-noticeable breeze.
It is my hope that this work will play a role in continuing to bring further awareness and dialog around climate change,
and our need to act quickly.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
